Did you know that the surgeon gets to pick the playlist in theatre?
Most surgeons will just have a music radio station on- usually Magic, which plays old time tunes.
Today’s surgeon likes to operate to rock. Headache inducing if you ask me, but whatever works. If I ever become a surgeon (unlikely), I will take out appendixes to the sound of nightingales and waterfalls.
Speaking of waterfalls, I put in my first urinary catheter in today! (Ok, tenuous link there.) It was super easy and so not awkward-probably because the patient was under anaesthetic- and I’m super pleased with myself for not shying away (after the first 15 seconds) when offered the chance.
